What IS STS?

STS is a two part learning platform: Live interactive classes & recorded stories

1) During the classes, we cocreate stories together, and build the language one sentence at a time.

2) This ever-growing library of videos of both new and familiar stories, are told in super easy Spanish, designed for first-year students to comprehend. Over time the language will be absorbed into your brain, leading to fluency.

So overall, you get stories in 3 ways: interactive, live, zoom class-created stories, recorded video stories, AND readings of those stories.

There is no studying or memorizing required (or recommended!) You could call it “no airplane needed-immersion”!

Like previously stated there is a video story library. The first place to start is the Grammar Stories. These introduce you to important pieces of Spanish grammar with a brief explanation, followed by a story that utilizes and demonstrates that grammar. The stories in this series build on each other and should be watched in order.

The rest of the series are either grouped by topic, like fairy tales, fables, silly stories or monster stories and are labeled as beginner, intermediate or advanced, and epic / connected series like Old/ New Testament stories, Pilgrim’s Progress, The Princess Bride, Star Wars etc. which start out with basic Spanish and grow in their level as the story develops.Every story has the story written in a pdf for you to read.

All you need to do is to listen and watch the story and enjoy it. You do not have to understand every single word, especially at the beginning. Following the storyline is enough. The more you watch, the more you’ll understand. The research (and my experience learning French this way) says this is enough. But I have included other ways to “play” around with the language that is forming in your brain, called the FLUENCY FRAMEWORK, simply because it is fun!

After watching a story, I suggest various ways you can interact with it- included in these are over 20 activities spanning the 5 different types of learners: auditory, verbal, visual, kinesthetic, and artistic.

In addition to these activities you do at home on your own, STS hosts a monthly TERTULIA on zoom, where any member can join the call and we talk in Spanish (or just listen) at whatever level we are at.

Finally, each member get access to 3 other amazing reading and video resources to enjoy Spanish
